With all the enthusiasm about the new Mad Max (and, boy, what a treat it is!), it's a good time to remember the good ol' days when each and every hit movie had a bunch of cheap copycats exploiting the trend. A good primer for that can be found over at Popmatters. And of course, the Italians were master in the high arts of transforming big budget hit movies into small budget crapfests.
